The LA area has attractions for everyone from little ones to the most discerning traveler. Here is a great way to spend 4 days in this fun city.
On your first full day head out to Santa Monica for a Segway tour. The tour is approximately two hours and it will take you through Santa Monica and Venice Beach on the scenic beach path. Segways are a ton of fun and, even if it's your first time, you will quickly learn how to maneuver it and enjoy this awesome tour.
If this is your first time in LA, don’t miss a stroll on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. This two mile long street has some of the most luxurious shops and hotels in the world. Enjoy lunch in one of the casual restaurants. If you’re lucky you might even spot some stars!
Now it's time to get a shot of the iconic Hollywood sign! The Hollywood Bowl Scenic Overlook offers you great views of the city and the Hollywood sign. If you'd like to get a closer picture of the sign, this address will get you as close as it gets but it's a little further of a drive: 3000 Canyon Lake Drive, Hollywood, park at dog park on left and walk up the hill for the best views.
Spend the day at Universal Studios Hollywood. I highly recommend the VIP tour. The tour is very well worth the investment. Start out with a delicious breakfast, then your group's guide (small group of about 10), will escort you to the rides and shows... No waiting in lines!! A gourmet lunch is served with delicious items such as seafood, filet mignon, salads, really exquisite! After lunch, your VIP backlot tour begins. See how movies and tv shoes are filmed and have access to areas and sets that can only be seen on this tour. One of our favorites during the tour was the immense prop warehouse where producers select every single item they will use on the sets.
How about a drive to the beautiful beach town of Malibu? This is where Hollywood stars escape to their oceanfront homes. Enjoy the scenic drive and don’t miss lunch at Moonshadows! This beautiful ocean front restaurant offers a delicious menu and you can't beat the views.
If you’re a baseball fan, no trip to LA is complete without an LA Dodgers game. We were able to visit on the Fourth of July so we enjoyed a great game and fireworks show!
Disneyland anyone? If you’ve ever visited the Disney parks in Florida you will be shocked as to the size of the parks in California. There are only 2 parks and you can walk from one to the other. I love that you can really take advantage the Park Hopper option here and quickly go back and forth between the two parks. Get Fast Passes for rides in each park and make the most of your time!
LA is a large city and the attractions are very spread out so renting a car is highly recommended. We chose to stay outside the city in Pasadena which we loved. It was very convenient for driving to all the different places we visited.
We greatly enjoyed our time in LA. It was the first stop of our two week trip to California. Stay tuned for the rest of our journey through this beautiful state… Wine Tastings, incredible Coastal Views along Highway One, hiking and rafting in Yosemite, and the beautiful San Francisco and Napa!
Sometimes we travel around the world and don’t enjoy the beautiful places we have in our own country. Contact me today to start planning your trip to the beautiful state of California.
