I've been enamored by Portugal for almost a year now! Not only because Portugal has outstanding food and one of the best wine regions in the world but also its medieval towns and stunning beaches make it such a wonderful European destination.
Culinary delights, old world charm and romantic flare describe the essence of Portugal and why I'm so enamored by this amazing country. Explore its coastal fishing villages, historic cities, and one of the oldest wine regions of the world.
Portugal is a small country with many attractions, not only in the main cities but in the lesser known areas where cobblestone streets, medieval walled towns, and small fishing villages will transport you to another era.
The Algarve is the stunning southern region with high-end beach towns that will cater to the most discerning traveler.
Heading north, the Alentejo is one of Portugal's most historic and unspoiled areas with rolling vineyards and medieval cities. One of the main cities in Alentejo, Evora, has been awarded UNESCO World Heritage status.
So much history in the fascinating and vibrant city of Porto... along the Douro River, this region is famed for the production of Port, which is still stored in the vast cellars that stretch along the banks of the Douro River (tours of these cellars are amazing!).
The Douro Valley is one of the world's oldest and best known wine regions. With mountain ranges of tumbled granite, vineyards run along the Douro River having the perfect environment for wine producing grapes and incredibly stunning scenery.
