Have you always thought about traveling with another family but not quite sure how it would work out?
My family and I have traveled with other couples and their children on quite a few occasions. The best advice I can give you is to please make sure you choose wisely. You need to know the other family’s habits in terms of cleanliness, neatness, etc. If you are sharing a large villa or condo this could make it or break it. If you are in separate hotel rooms then this really shouldn’t impact your trip.
Spending habits are also critical, you need to ensure you enjoy the same luxuries in life. If one family enjoys fancy dinners and the other prefers fast food you are not going to have fun together. Bottom line…make sure you travel with families who share similar interests! Once that is resolved… just relax and have fun.
A few weeks before the trip we discuss restaurants and activities in which we’re interested. We decide on those and make reservations. If there is something one family wants to do and the other doesn’t it is perfectly fine to split up for the day or for a few hours. But in general, we do everything together and it is a ton of fun.
Our most recent vacations with friends were to Grand Cayman and Turks and Caicos. We’ve stayed in large villas or condos where we all have privacy but also share huge living areas and private pools.
Looking forward to our next trip with friends!
