A BOUTIQUE ALL INCLUSIVE IN THE CARIBBEAN

Zoetry Agua

I’ll start by saying I’m not a fan of all-inclusive resorts. I always felt you gave up quality for convenience and that these properties cater to the masses so you lose the individualized attention and quality service.

For this recent trip I was looking for a property in the Caribbean to visit with my husband. The criteria were… restaurants on site, great service and lots of relaxation. It was also important to have a short direct flight from NY/NJ and to easily reach the hotel from the airport.

So I decided to stay at Zoetry Agua Punta Cana and I’d love to share my experiences with you…

This is a boutique hotel with only 90 rooms. It’s not an adult-only property but not many families with young kids visit because they cater to couples. There is no kids club or activities for children.

THE SERVICE… I have traveled to many places and I have to say this property has the most welcoming and courteous staff. They cater to your every need. Upon arrival we were greeted by our Butler who exchanged contact details so we can reach him anytime with our requests. All employees, from bartenders to housekeeping and restaurant staff, were aiming to please. Nothing was too much effort for them. They even provide complimentary laundry services!

THE VIBE... From the moment I arrived the property felt very zen… the lobby has a spa-like feel (and scents). There are plants and flowers all over and no other resorts nearby so it feels very private on the property and the beach. It is very quiet throughout the hotel. The only time we heard loud music was during a 45 minute aqua spin class in the afternoons.

FOOD & DRINKS... There are 4 restaurants on the property, all a la carte (no buffets here!). I thought the food was good and some dishes were excellent. My favorites during our stay… for lunch – shrimp ceviche over salad, for dinner – veal osso buco. The bars offered premium liquor brands. House wines were ok but they do have a wine menu where you can purchase bottles for dinner. Rooms have a fully stocked mini bar (all free of charge and replenished daily).

THE SPA... They have a beautiful spa onsite with a very knowledgeable staff. We had wonderful massages. Unfortunately, my husband and I had many bites from sand flies (mostly from having a private dinner on the beach). The spa staff got us fresh aloe, extracted the gel, and had it in a bowl with ice to spread on our legs after the massages. These little touches are what make the staff at this property so incredible. You feel completely pampered and at home.

ACTIVITIES... If you’re looking for a getaway with lots of action and activities then this property is not for you. However, if you’re looking for a very relaxing vacation without much nightlife you should consider Zoetry Agua. Here is an example of the activities offered – yoga, meditation, cocktail mixing class, and aqua spin class in the pool. In the evenings there is about an hour of entertainment in the lobby at 9:15pm (a guitarist, violinist, flamenco show). That’s all… no dancing or loud music. The lobby bar is open until 1am. However, they do have several sister properties in the area that you are welcome to visit anytime if you’re looking for a little dancing or nightlife.

In summary… for a romantic weekend getaway where everything is included, several restaurants onsite, a staff that will pamper you, and a wonderful spa… I highly recommend Zoetry Agua Punta Cana.
