Why You Should Postpone Your Vacation Until 2021
Yes, you are reading this correctly. I’m encouraging you not to travel internationally this year. Why? My goal is for you to have the most amazing vacation memories and for your entire experience to be flawless. Unfortunately, I don’t feel I can guarantee that if you’re traveling in the next several months.

Global tourism has been shut down for months and most countries are still closed to Americans. By the time you travel some countries may have a 14-day quarantine requirement, or a very recent negative COVID test may be required.
The airport and flight experience will be very different from what we’re used to… you may need to wear a face covering at the airport and for the duration of your flight.
Hotels and restaurants have lost revenues due to closures and to new cleaning protocols and systems put in place to ensure your safety. Many are scheduled to open June through August. However, they must follow strict guidelines around reduced capacity (25% to 50% occupancy levels).
And, while spending time visiting your dream destination you may need to wear masks when visiting public spaces and tourist sites.
As much as I want to support my wonderful hotel partners and local suppliers, I need to keep your best interest in mind. For all these reasons I personally don’t believe the travel experience will be what it should be in the very near future.
So, what’s my advice…
Postpone that dream trip to 2021. But, here’s what I envision for next year…
2021 WILL BE SOLD OUT BY THE END OF THIS YEAR
Here’s why… the millions of travelers that were forced to cancel their trips this year have postponed to next year. Africa, for example, already has no availability for all of next year. All safari lodges are completely sold out for 2021!
START PLANNING THIS FALL FOR 2021 TRAVEL
If you’re postponing a trip to next year or planning a much needed dream vacation, start planning early! Otherwise, you will be disappointed with very limited availability, especially if you have fixed dates for your vacation.
This may be the only time I will ever discourage you from traveling, but I strongly believe vacations should be perfect as you create memories to be cherished for a lifetime. And if there’s any chance the experience will be less than flawless, I encourage you not to take that trip this year. Wait until next year to go on your dream vacation, but plan early!
