5 Must See Spots on the French Riviera

This week I’m taking you to my favorite spots on the French Riviera. So let’s forget about all the craziness in our world right now and let’s dream about some spectacular places for us to explore once we are ready...

The French Riviera, “Côte d’Azur”, is one of the regions in the South of France. It is known for its glamorous coastline with luxurious yachts and the prettiest hilltop villages.

The region can be explored by car or train but don’t miss out on a private boat for the day to admire the spectacular scenery from the water. Your captain will take you to coastal towns, tiny islands, and the best spots for swimming.

VILLEFRANCHE-SUR-MER…

Definitely my favorite of all the spots in this region! This lovely seaside beach village is located just a few miles east of Nice. The narrow streets are lined with pastel colored buildings. Villefranche has small squares where you can sit on a bench and be taken back to the days when this was a fishing village. There are also wonderful restaurants (some with fantastic views), and quaint shops you’ll find as you wander the cobblestone streets.

ST. PAUL DE VENCE…

One of the oldest and most charming medieval villages in the French Riviera, strolling through the streets of St. Paul de Vence feels like you’re in a fairy tale. This tiny hilltop town has one long pedestrian street with alleyways and stairways branching off, some leading to spectacular views. Art galleries line the main street as this is where artists and art lovers gathered in the 1920s.

EZE…

This is another enchanting hilltop village in the region. The panoramic views here are spectacular and the medieval architecture of stonework and outstanding detailing is breathtaking. Stroll through the pedestrian only streets, enjoy lunch with the most magnificent views, and relax as you step back in time in this lovely medieval village.

SAINT TROPEZ…

Whether you’re looking for glamour, yachts, and celebrities, or a luxurious tranquil getaway, St. Tropez has it all! Explore the port and old town to feel the charm of Saint Tropez. Although the French Riviera is lined with a spectacular coastline, many beaches are very rocky. St. Tropez has some of the best beaches in the area, many have been made famous by celebrities vacationing here. And, lastly, this lovely town is idolized by its sense of fashion with many boutiques to explore.

NICE…

The capital of the French Riviera is a great hub for visiting the area. The international airport and rail station in Nice give you access to easily transferring to other parts of France. This vibrant city is also ideally located for visiting all of the other magical towns and villages in the area. The restaurant scene, patisseries, bistros, and open-air markets are lovely. And the beautiful oceanfront promenade is wonderful for long walks after dinner.

I love the diversity of the French Riviera... from the glitz and glamour to medieval hilltop villages full of history and charm.
