5 of the Best European Cities
We often focus on designing itineraries to specific countries and spending your 10 days or 2 weeks in only one country. This week I am bringing a different perspective to your travel planning. How about experiencing some of the best cities in Europe? Combining a few of these will create an incredible trip.
This list is by no means all-inclusive of the best and most beautiful cities (there are so many!), but it is a short list of some of the most spectacular cities in Europe, each with their own charm and beauty.
The criteria used to generate this list… Spectacular scenery, great restaurants, interesting history, lovely hotels, and great cities to visit any time of year (with wonderful holiday markets in November and December).
Paris, France Known as the "City of Love," Paris is renowned for its romantic atmosphere, iconic landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and Notre-Dame Cathedral, world-class museums like the Louvre, and elegant boulevards like Champs-Élysées. The rich gastronomy in Paris can be found in a variety of establishments from local bistros to Michelin starred restaurant.
Florence, Italy Considered the birthplace of the Renaissance, Florence boasts magnificent architecture, including the Duomo and the Ponte Vecchio. It's also home to renowned art galleries such as the Uffizi Gallery and offers a rich culinary scene. Day trips to the Tuscan countryside are a must when visiting Florence.
Prague, Czech Republic With its fairytale-like architecture, Prague is a picturesque city sitting on a beautiful river with many bridges connecting the two sides of the city. The historic Prague Castle, Charles Bridge, and Old Town Square with its astronomical clock are just a few of the city's captivating attractions.
Vienna, Austria Known for its imperial grandeur, Vienna showcases opulent palaces, including Schönbrunn Palace and Hofburg Palace. The city is also renowned for its classical music heritage and delightful coffeehouse culture. The Vienna Opera House is one of the most impressive opera houses in the world.
Amsterdam, Netherlands With its network of canals, historic buildings, and vibrant atmosphere, Amsterdam is a visually stunning city. Visit the Anne Frank House, explore the world-class museums, and take a leisurely canal cruise. Visiting in the spring is magical as you can experience the flower fields with tulips in full bloom.
