Get Ready to Travel With These Tips

Windmills on Mykonos island, Greece

We may all be feeling a little rusty these days when it comes to traveling. But you need to start getting ready to check destinations off your bucket list!

With overseas restrictions easing, you will be ready to travel with the tips I’m sharing below…

Valid Passport - Ensure your passport is valid for six months beyond your return date. If your passport does not meet the requirements, you may be refused boarding by the airline at your point of origin or while transferring planes. For this reason, we recommend your passport have at least six months’ validity remaining whenever you travel abroad.

Picture of your Passport – Take a picture of your passport and keep it in your Favorites. This way in the event it is lost or stolen it will be helpful to have your passport number for ID purposes and filing a report.

Carry-on - Never check-in anything you can’t live without at your destination. It takes at least a day for delayed luggage to arrive at your hotel. Your carry on should include all your valuables... jewelry, cameras, chargers, contact lenses, and a set of clothes for each family member.

Take an empty shopping or canvas bag in your carry-on. If there is not enough room for your carry-on in the overhead compartment you may need to check it in. This way you will be able to place all your valuables in the shopping bag and keep them with you.

Packing - On your next multiple destination trip pack one suitcase per hotel stay for the entire family. It will require some planning ahead but will be so much easier when arriving at each destination.

Toiletry Bag - Always keep a travel toiletry bag at home with all your products ready to go. Replenish what is needed after each trip. This makes packing a bit easier!

Avoid Airport Delays - My least favorite part about traveling is the airport. Long security and immigration lines are draining. Until I discovered Global Entry. This is a program that allows pre-approved, low risk travelers to receive expedited clearance upon arrival into the United States. You also receive TSA PreCheck when approved for Global Entry and it is valid for 5 years.

I hope these tips are helpful as you begin to plan your next international trip! Do you have questions? Please reach out anytime.
