Guide to Traveling in 2021 and Beyond

Travel Information Sign in York

Since March 2020 most of us have been cocooning at home and longing for the days when we could travel again. The pandemic brought every aspect of our lives to a screeching halt and now, a year later, we are starting to feel a bit more comfortable with the precautions needed and learning to live in a world that is still recovering.

The pandemic has changed the way we travel, perhaps forever. And, in some ways, for the better, especially when it comes to overall cleanliness. But we also need to be informed of border closures, travel requirements, and testing protocols which are more complicated than ever before.

With the roll out of the vaccines many are feeling ready to travel as the world is beginning to reopen. At Distinct Vacations, we have connections and partners around the world and we are here to help you.

For example, many of our hotel partners offer COVID testing onsite, making it easy to schedule your test 3 days before departing back to the US. We also work closely with our partners in ensuring they provide flexible cancellation policies as the world is still unstable and things continue to change rapidly.

We cannot make decisions or recommendations as to when you should be traveling but we can offer advice.

Below is a list of several things to consider when deciding to travel…

  • Am I comfortable wearing a mask for an extended period of time? Masks are required on airplanes for everyone age 2 and above. If this is a concern we can assist in finding destinations where you will be flying only a few hours, or perhaps a destination you can drive to within the US.

  • Am I comfortable taking COVID tests before traveling and before returning to your state or country? This could determine if you will travel internationally or even leave your state (depending on local testing regulations).

  • Will I be comfortable around other travelers? Although most destinations are enforcing COVID related protocols, we cannot expect everyone to follow them. If this is a concern, there many spectacular destinations to visit where you will be enjoying nature and the outdoors and even your own private accommodations with gourmet kitchen and pool.

  • Am I concerned about needing to cancel the trip? Flexible cancellation policies are a must these days as well as travel insurance. We are seeing more flexibility offered from our hotel partners and even the airlines. Unpredictable circumstances can impact your travel plans so we always recommend a travel insurance policy to offer assistance and financial protection during these times.

Traveling may look a little differently for now. Perhaps you had planned a European vacation in 2020 that needs to be postponed until 2022 but there are other destinations we can explore and still feel the excitement and rejuvenation only a vacation can offer. We are here to advise on finding the right destination for your next vacation… whenever you are ready to begin planning.

Working with Distinct Vacations in reserving at any of our preferred properties, you may have access to flexible cancellation policies and special amenities (such as a spa credit, complimentary breakfast, and room upgrades).
